NierX Mobile Scanner is developed by NierX. The app turns your smartphone into a wireless barcode, QR code, and document scanner for a connected PC.

Data Collection

NierX does not operate its own cloud service for collecting or storing the barcode, QR code, document images, or OCR content processed by the app.

Barcode and QR Scanning

Barcode and QR scan results are sent over your local Wi-Fi network to the connected PC Server. NierX does not send these scan results to its own cloud servers.

Document Scanning and OCR

When you use Document Scanner mode, document images are captured or selected on your phone and transferred over your local Wi-Fi network to the connected PC Server.

OCR processing, document layout processing, and document output generation are performed locally on the connected PC. Depending on your OCR settings, the PC may download an OCR language model from nierx.com when a high-quality OCR model is requested. Document images and OCR text are not uploaded to NierX’s cloud service for OCR processing.

The PC may generate local files such as searchable PDF, TXT, JSON, Markdown, and HTML outputs.

Information Stored Locally

The app and PC Server may store information locally that is necessary to operate the scanning workflow, such as:

  • Scan history
  • Connected device information
  • Document images
  • OCR results
  • Document processing status
  • Application settings

These files are stored locally on the user’s device or connected PC and are not transmitted to NierX’s cloud servers for storage.

Permissions

The app may request:

  • Camera — required for barcode, QR code, and document scanning.
  • Photos and media selection — used when the user chooses existing images for document scanning.
  • Local network access — required to communicate with the connected NierX PC Server over the user’s local network.

The app does not require access to a user’s entire photo library for document scanning when the Android system photo picker can be used.

Third-party Services

NierX uses third-party services that may process certain technical information independently from NierX.

Google AdMob

NierX uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share information such as IP address, device or advertising identifiers, app interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, and related purposes. Data collected by Google Mobile Ads is handled according to Google’s policies and privacy practices.

For more information, please review Google’s privacy and advertising policies.

Local Network Communication

NierX Mobile Scanner communicates with the user’s connected PC through the user’s local Wi-Fi network. This communication is intended for scanning, document transfer, OCR processing, and related application functions.

NierX does not require a cloud account or cloud storage for these functions.

Data Security

NierX is designed to keep scanned content within the user’s local workflow. Barcode data, QR data, document images, and OCR results are transferred between the phone and the connected PC over the user’s local network.

Users should secure their own devices and local network appropriately.

Children’s Privacy

NierX Mobile Scanner is not directed specifically at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through its own servers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app’s features, services, or data practices change. The latest version will be published on the NierX website.
